Thunder add Heat to their WBBL|12 squad

Sydney Thunder have secured a major signing from a rival club, with experienced allrounder Nicola Hancock set to trade teal for lime for the Weber WBBL|12 season.

The 30-year-old becomes the latest former Brisbane Heat player to make the move to Sydney, joining former teammates Georgia Voll and Laura Harris at Thunder.

A foundation-era WBBL player, Hancock has built an extensive career across the competition, representing the Renegades, Hurricanes, Stars and Heat. Since WBBL|01, she has taken 115 wickets across 126 matches and scored 360 runs.

Now calling Western Sydney home for the summer, the right-arm quick is excited to reunite with former teammates and join new faces, including skipper Phoebe Litchfield.

Hancock said;

"I really like the direction this group is heading in. They've created an environment that people are really happy to be in.

"I'm really excited to be playing with Laura [Harris] and Volly [Georgia Voll] again. Laura is a really good friend of mine and she's obviously a very explosive player, while Volly's game has evolved so much over the last two years.

"I've never played with Phoebe before but, from the outside, she looks like a phenomenal leader and is taking the group in a really positive direction. I think Lisa has a wealth of knowledge; she's worked all around the world, and I'm looking forward to working collaboratively with them both.

"It's going to be a massive day kicking off the season at Drummoyne Oval. The Heat are obviously an incredible team and they have shown that over many seasons, but I'm really looking forward to facing them first up and seeing how the day unfolds."

Sydney Thunder General Manager Trent Copeland said;

“Nic has been a proven performer in the WBBL for a long time.

“She’s a genuine wicket-taker who has the ability to impact games in different situations, whether that’s taking the new ball, bowling through the middle or handling the pressure at the back end of an innings.

“Having played more than 100 WBBL games, Nic understands what it takes to perform consistently in this competition, and we think her experience will be incredibly valuable for our squad."
