A selection of Sydney Thunder stars will head to regional towns right across NSW on July 29 and 30 for Cricket NSW's annual Country Blitz, bringing cricket to the community and inspiring locals to get involved in the game.

The players will take part in school visits, come-and-try sessions, cricket clinics and community events alongside local club and association members, connecting with the next generation of players and the volunteers who keep the game thriving in regional areas.
The Country Blitz helps promote registrations for the upcoming cricket season in Thunder heartland in what's shaping as one of the biggest years in Sydney Thunder history. Newly appointed BBL Head Coach and former England captain, Andrew "Freddie" Flintoff, will lead the club into BBL|16 while Thunder have also locked in WBBL Head Coach Lisa Keightley for a further two years.
Thunder players along with NSW Contracted players will visit six areas across regional NSW including:

Sydney Thunder General Manager Trent Copeland said Country Blitz offers a unique opportunity for the club to give back to the fans.
“I’ve been to 12 of these myself and have seen first-hand the impact it has on not only the fans but the community as a whole.
“Some of our most passionate supporters are in regional communities and don’t always have the chance to get to games during the season, so being able to bring our marquee players directly to them is incredibly important.
“It’s about more than just clinics, it’s about delivering high-quality coaching, sharing knowledge of the game and creating genuine connections with local players and fans.
“To give back to the coaches, volunteers and administrators as well - these people are the lifeblood of cricket in this country. The game of cricket doesn’t succeed without all the work they do.
“If we can inspire kids to pick up a bat and ball, stay involved in cricket and dream big, then we’re doing our job. And who knows, one day we might see them pulling on the lime-green themselves.”
