Sydney Thunder have named their 13-player squad to face the Brisbane Heat tomorrow night in their final home game at Drummoyne Oval for WBBL|11.
Thunder ready to face the Heat for the Road Safety Cup
The Road Safety Cup is an initiative between Transport for NSW, Sydney Thunder, Transport Main Roads Queensland and Brisbane Heat. The aim is to raise awareness of the death toll both states face every year on the road and the impact it has on families and communities.
Last year, 327 people were killed on NSW roads. Captain Phoebe Litchfield's shirt number will be changed to ‘0’ and her name changed to ‘Towards Zero’ to highlight that when it comes to deaths on our roads, the only acceptable number is zero.
England recruit Em Arlott returns to the squad as one of three overseas players replacing Chamari Athapaththu.
Sydney Thunder Head Coach Lisa Keightley said:
“It hasn’t been the best season for us this year. We haven’t been able to find our rhythm with both the bat and ball but now our focus shifts to finishing the season strong and making the fans proud.
“We’ve got ourselves in positions to win and unfortunately we haven’t taken those chances this season. I can’t fault the effort the players have put in to the games so far, we’ve fought to the very end in every match and tomorrow night this squad will do the same.”
