Sydney Thunder have named a 13-player squad for their First Nations Round clash against the Perth Scorchers tomorrow evening at Drummoyne Oval.
Thunder announce squad for First Nations Round clash against the Scorchers
Despite a disappointing start to the season, Thunder are determined to turn their campaign around and are calling on fans to fill the hill and cheer them on at home as they chase their first win.
Leg-spinner Hasrat Gill and all-rounder Ella Briscoe return to the squad, replacing fast bowlers Alex Mavros and Tara French.
18-year-old Lucy Finn retains her place after an impressive debut performance in Saturday night’s Sydney Smash. Finn claimed the key wicket of Sixers skipper Ash Gardner and scored an unbeaten 49 runs in front of a packed crowd at Drummoyne Oval.
Sydney Thunder Coach Lisa Keightley said:
“We haven’t quite put a complete game together yet, but we’re working hard to make sure we’re putting ourselves in positions to win games of cricket. We’ve been close, but we haven’t been able to take those key moments. We’ll turn up tomorrow determined to deliver a complete performance and officially kickstart our campaign.
“With the inclusion of Lucy Finn, we’ve gained more balance in our bowling line-up, and it was exciting to see what she can do with the bat. What a young talent she is – the future is bright for Thunder with players like her coming through.”
