Sam Konstas joins the Thunder Nation

Australian U19s star, Sam Konstas has signed with Sydney Thunder for their KFC BBL|13 campaign.

The 18-year-old joins the lime green and black after a career changing year including his first professional contract and call up for age group international duty.

Konstas turned heads breaking records at his grade club, Sutherland CC, by being the first in its history to score 1,000 runs across all grades in his debut season.

In August this year, the youngster earned a call up to Australia U19s for their England tour. Opening the batting for his country, he top scored with 105* in the ODI series.

Konstas has since debuted for the NSW Men’s Team, the Blues, contributing to their victory over Tasmania in their Sheffield Shield clash last month.

The emerging star and one to watch, Konstas spoke on how it's been a childhood dream to join the Western Sydney side.

Sam Konstas, said: “I’ve always dreamt of playing for Thunder. I’ve been going to games since I was a kid so it feels a bit surreal!

“To play with guys like Greeny [Chris Green] and Alex Hales, they’re the best at what they do. It’s going to be a great opportunity to soak up as much as I can. I can’t wait.”

Sydney Thunder get their BBL|13 season underway at Manuka Oval in Canberra on Tuesday December 12 against Brisbane Heat.
