Sydney Thunder signed emerging batsman Ollie Davies to a two-year contract ahead of BBL|09.
The talented teenager cemented his place as one of the most exciting young players in the country with an incredible double-century for NSW Metro at the Under 19 National Championships last year.
Davies, who captained NSW Metro at the tournament, is also a handy off-spinner who is great in the field.
An impressive 12 months has also seen Davies become the youngest Manly-Warringah player to score a first-grade century in the NSW Premier Cricket competition.
Sydney Thunder Head Coach Shane Bond on Davies:
“Last season we were keeping our eye on him and he was doing some stunning stuff, not only at Under 19 level but in grade cricket.
“He’s a hugely exciting prospect. His talent with the bat, the fact that he’s a good player of spin and that he wanted to play for us all makes him a great signing.
“He’s a young man but he comes into an environment where he’ll have great support around him and I’ve got no doubt he’ll thrive and do very well for us.
“We’ll push him pretty hard and challenge him, and he’s going to have some fine players in and around him to learn off, so hopefully he takes all the opportunities that come his way.
“We’re really excited to have him as part of the group and really looking forward to seeing him get an opportunity to play.”
