Everything you need to know about Thunder’s first road trip of WBBL|05

Sydney Thunder hit the road for the first time in WBBL|05 this weekend, travelling to Burnie to take on the Hobart Hurricanes at West Park Oval.

Thunder will be coming up against three former players for the first time, after Maisy Gibson, Belinda Vakarewa and Nicola Carey moved to Tasmania at the beginning of the year for more opportunities.

Match information:

Saturday 2 November | West Park Oval | 2:00pm AEDT

Sunday 3 November | West Park Oval | 11:00am AEDT

How to watch:

Fans across the Thunder Nation can stream both matches live on cricket.com.au and Kayo, with radio coverage from ABC Grandstand.

Follow Thunder on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook for live updates.

Last time they met:

Thunder (4-136) beat the Hurricanes (135) by six wickets in a clinical performance at Sydney Showground Stadium on Christmas Eve.

A strong performance from all Thunder bowlers saw the Hurricanes all out for 135 with two balls to spare.

Led by Rachael Haynes (68* from 48), Thunder made short work of the chase, reaching the target with 20 balls to spare.

The season so far:

After falling to the Sydney Sixers in the season opener, Thunder bounced back brilliantly to beat reigning champions the Brisbane Heat by seven wickets at North Sydney Oval.

Thunder’s exciting form continued last weekend, with the side holding on to win two thrillers against the Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars.

The Hurricanes have started the season strongly, winning their first two game against the Stars and just narrowly losing out in thrillers against the Heat and Adelaide Strikers at Allan Border Field last weekend.

Rene Farrell on the Hobart Hurricanes:

“They’re obviously a really good team, they came out strong in their first few games. I think they have about three of our former players and we know that they’re class acts. They’ve moved there for opportunity and they’re doing really well. I’m looking forward to coming up against them, there’ll be a bit of banter and a bit of fun out on the field, but it’ll be a really good contest and I’m really looking forward to it.”
