Sydney Thunder captain Shane Watson starred for Chennai Super Kings as they beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets in the final of Indian Premier League.
Watson, who did not score of any of his first ten deliveries ended up smashing 11 four and eight sixes as the Super Kings made 179 with balls remaining.
The win was the Super Kings third IPL title, having returned to the tournament following a two year ban.
"To do it in such a big game that means so much to the franchise is pretty special," said Watson who had struggled with hamstring and calf issues in the past week.
"Towards the back end of the tournament I was hanging on for dear life."
Watson was joined in the Super Kings setup by former Thunder captain Michael Hussey who had worked as the franchises batting coach for the tournament.
