Former Sydney Thunder Assistant Coach Phil Jaques has been named Head Coach of the NSW Blues on a three year contract.
Jacques, one of NSW’s most prolific batsman was assistant to Paddy Upton during BBL|04 before moving to Brisbane to become the Head Coach of the Queensland Bulls.
The 39-year old scored three centuries in 11 Tests during a career that saw him play for NSW, Australia, Northamptonshire, Worcestershire, Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire.
“As a former Blues player I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to coach NSW as part of a new era,” Jaques said.
“We have a number of exceptional young cricketers, many of whom have recently represented the Australian Under 19s, and I look forward to working with them so they can reach their full potential.”
The NSW squad has several Thunder faces in it including Pat Cummins, Ryan Gibson and Kurtis Patterson.
