New kits revealed for WBBL|07 and BBL|11

The Big Bash has joined forces with global music megastar, Tones And I, to launch the League’s second decade and a bold new Sydney Thunder look from apparel partner Nike.

The League has welcomed Tones and I as an ambassador for the KFC BBL|11 and Weber WBBL|07 competitions, with her music to be heard throughout the summer of Big Bash.


The Australian singer-songwriter shot to global superstardom with her song ‘Dance Monkey’, which topped music charts in 30 countries, earned her four ARIA Awards, and has been followed by a slew of multi-platinum ARIA hit singles. Her debut album, Welcome To The Madhouse, debuted at number one on the ARIA Album Chart following its July release, with current single ‘Cloudy Day’ already amassing more that 40 million global streams.

A self-confessed cricket lover, Tones And I has begun her partnership with the Big Bash by unveiling Nike’s new world-class on-field apparel range to be worn by all eight clubs – including Thunders’ WBBL and BBL squads - this summer.

Regarding her new partnership with the Big Bash Leagues, Tones And I said: “The new Nike kits for this year’s Big Bash are sick and I’m looking forward to getting to a match. At the end of the day, cricket is the real winner.”

Thunder’s dynamic teenage batting star, Phoebe Litchfield, described the alliance between Tones And I, Nike, and the Big Bash Leagues as “awesome!”

“To have Tones and I as an ambassador for the Big Bash Leagues opens up our audience even more,” said Litchfield.

“She has a global audience, and there’d be plenty of people who love her music that have no idea about cricket. For her to jump on board is awesome for everyone!

“Having Nike on board is also massive. They’re a world-renowned brand, and to have them as our major uniform supplier adds even more prestige to the league.”

Litchfield added the support from Weber as the official sponsor of the WBBL, and KFC for the BBL, emphasised how strong both leagues are.

“The support the BBL is receiving is very cool, it’s great for our brand,” she said.

The new Nike range is characterised by its striking icons and bold colour, emphasising the unique attributes of each club while maintaining links to the Leagues as a whole. The range is further enriched via textural elements from Nike’s latest Global Design Direction.

Today’s announcement marks the first time Nike has released an apparel range for an entire League in Australia and symbolises a shared vision of uniting communities through sport, which has never been more important.

Nike’s new deal for the Big Bash follows on Thunder’s recent announcements that Homestar Finance had signed on as Principal Partner for the next three years and will have their logo emblazoned on the front of the Sydney Thunder’s BBL playing shirt, while new Official Partner, Chamberlain, will appear on the front of the WBBL shirt as the team defends its title.

The Thunder’s title defence starts with its Weber WBBL|07 match against Adelaide Strikers on Saturday, October 16.
