Sydney Thunder young guns Jason Sangha and Tahlia Wilson visited local schools and cricket clubs in the Illawarra this week as part of the club’s ongoing commitment to regional engagement.
“I remember back when I was in primary school, having players visit Newcastle was so much fun,” Sangha said.
“To see the kids have so much fun and the joy on their faces just by Tahlia and I being with them and playing lots of cricket was great.
“We played a few mini games of cricket and myself and Tahlia had such a great time to go back to our local communities and play cricket with all the primary school kids and see the smiles on their faces.
“You also get a glimpse at the next generation of cricketers and I’m sure a few of them will be donning Thunder colours very soon.”
Sydney Thunder is set to take on the Adelaide Strikers in a home Rebel Women’s Big Bash League fixture at North Dalton Park in Wollongong on 20 November.
“For someone like Tahlia to have an opportunity to play in front of her crowd is going to be fantastic,” Sangha said.
“I think it’s so important that we have these Big Bash games in regional areas of New South Wales and I think everyone in Wollongong is very excited.”
