Sydney Thunder has partnered with OzHarvest to provide 150,000 meals to those in need across Western Sydney and regional New South Wales.
OzHarvest is Australia’s leading food rescue organization, collecting quality excess food from commercial outlets and delivering it directly to more than 1,300 charities supporting people in need across the country.
Over four million Australians experience food insecurity every year, while one third of food goes to waste.
Sydney Thunder’s purpose is to be a loved club that inspires and unites the Thunder Nation. The club is committed to making a real and meaningful contribution to the community.
“I’m really proud and honoured to be a part of a club, at Sydney Thunder, that helps give back to the community and helps people in need,” said all-rounder Lisa Griffith.
“I just think that it’s really special to come to a place like OzHarvest and help people out that really need it and that we can give back to the community.”
Last season, Sydney Thunder provided more than 63,000 meals for those in need, surpassing the target of 10,000 more than six times.
Donations can be made at sydneythunder.com.au/150kmeals. For every $1 donated, two meals are provided to those in need.
