Ferguson praises Buttler on his Thunder stint

Sydney Thunder has named an unchanged 13-player squad to take on the Adelaide Strikers on Sunday 7 January at Spotless Stadium (7.10pm start).

The game will be the final chance for Thunder supporters to see Jos Buttler this season, with the opening batter set to join the England ODI squad, his replacement will be named early next week.

“He’s just such an enormously skilled player,” said Callum Ferguson.

“A guy that just keeps getting the job done, wherever he plays around the world and we expected nothing less when he came here.

“To see him getting into his stride in the last couple of games has been good to see.”

Sydney Thunder has included spin trio Chris Green, Arjun Nair and Fawad Ahmed in their squad, who have taken a combined 15-wickets this season for the club.

“They’ve been fantastic, they’ve really strangled sides throughout the middle of the innings and in recent times they’ve done a job in the powerplay as well,” said Ferguson.

“We’re hopefully they will get the job done out here against the Strikers tomorrow as well.”

The two sides last met on 22 December at the Adelaide Oval with the Strikers winning by 53-runs.
