Davies, who contributed an unbeaten 26 in Thunder’s New Year’s Eve victory over the Strikers at Adelaide Oval, has never played at Thunder Nation’s HQ. However, he was hoping that would be rectified in Sunday’s return match against the Strikers.

“Unfortunately, I’ve been injured a few times when Thunder has played there,” said Davies after Thunder’s impressive 22-run victory. “But, it’s definitely a ground I want to tick off on my list.

“I want to play plenty of games there.

“So, I’m really looking forward to the possibility of getting out there on Sunday and playing in front of the Thunder crowd.”

Davies, who marked his return to action in the New Year’s Eve match at Adelaide by striking two sixes and a four, said it was ‘a highlight’ to be out in the middle with Jason Sangha as he scored an unbeaten 91 against Adelaide.

“It felt really good being out there,” he said. “Especially batting with Jason; one of my good mates.

“That was special, and it helped me.

“I’ve missed a bit of cricket because of my broken thumb, but I had good confidence that I had a lot of hitting in the bank.

“It was very nice to get back out there.”

Davies has joined the chorus of people praising Sangha’s dynamic start to the BBL competition.

After four matches he’s hammered 233 runs from 159 balls, at an average of 116.50 and strike rate of 146.54.

“That was one of the best finishes you could want,” said Davies of Sangha’s unbeaten New Year’s Eve innings.

“I think he was hitting the ball the cleanest I’ve ever seen him – or anyone else, for that matter – hit them. It was brilliant to watch.”
