Sydney Thunder opening duo Shane Watson and Jos Buttler are set to make a big impact in this year’s Indian Premier League.
Fresh from an unbelievable Pakistan Super League campaign, Watson, 37, will be hoping to go back-to-back with reigning champions the Chennai Super Kings.
Watson hit two centuries for the Super Kings last season, including an unbeaten 117 in the final against Sunrisers Hyderabad to finish with the fifth-most runs in the tournament.
Buttler, 28, will be back in action for the Rajasthan Royals after a historic campaign last year.
He scored 548 runs to finish as the sixth-highest run scorer, despite only playing 13 matches, and hit five consecutive half centuries, an IPL record.
The IPL begins in Chennai this weekend, when Watson’s Super Kings face the Royal Challengers Bangalore (Sunday 24 March at 1:30am AEDT, live on Fox Cricket).
Thunder Head Coach Shane Bond will also make his mark on the tournament as the Mumbai Indians’ Bowling Coach, while club legend Mike Hussey will join Watson at the Super Kings as the Batting Coach.
