Sydney Thunder spin king Fawad Ahmed was on the winning side in the final of the Caribbean Premier League as the Trinbago Knight Riders won their third CPL title.
The Trinbago Knight Riders beat the Guyana Amazon Warriors by 8-wickets with 15-balls remaining after Colin Munro hit 68. Guyana were captained by Sydney Thunder’s Chris Green who went from being a replacement player to captaining his side to the final of the competition.
Fawad Ahmed took 1-29 while Ronchi top scored for Guyana as they made 147-9. The Knight Riders started well with Guyana finding it hard to take wickets until Chris Green took the prizes scalp of Brendon McCullum.
After a brief rain interruption, the Knight Riders continued their chase, losing only one more wicket before they chased down their target with fifteen balls remaining.
Fawad Ahmed finished the tournament the top wicket-taker with 22 at an average of 13.77 and was also named in the All Star XI for the tournament.
Both spinners are set to be in action as Sydney Thunder open their KFC Big Bash League campaign against the Melbourne Stars on 21 December. Memberships are on sale now by clicking here.
