The Thunder Development XI has bounced back from its loss to the Sixers Academy XI to beat the Auckland Aces A Team by 35 runs at Blacktown International Sportspark.
Auckland Aces XI: Will O'Donnell, Jack Parsons, Craig Cachopa (C), Corey Anderson, Finn Allen, Hendrik Van Vuuren (WK), Ronnie Hira, Mitch McClenaghan, Danru Ferns, Ross Ter Braak, Louis Delport #ThunderNation— Sydney Thunder (@ThunderBBL) October 30, 2019
Stand-in skipper Jay Lenton made the most of his decision to bat first, going on to score 49 runs, including six boundaries.
However, it was new recruit Ollie Davies who stole the show with a quickfire 50 from just 27 deliveries, including two fours and four sixes.
The 19-year-old is in rare form at the moment, having recently scored 165 runs for Manly-Warringah in NSW Premier Cricket.
Leg-spinner Jonathan Cook was the best of the bowlers with a very tidy 3/12 from his four overs, including the big wicket of former New Zealand international Corey Anderson.
Gurinder Sandhu was also impressive with the ball, taking 2/17 from his four overs.
The Mike Hussey Trophy quad series continues tomorrow at Blacktown International Sportspark, with the Thunder Development XI taking on the Hobart Hurricanes.
