Cricket equipment and uniform from the Thunder Nation has been donated to the Kent Cricket Club to support the development of cricket in Sierra Leone.
The Kent CC received the kit bags full of uniform, wooden and plastic bats, bat grips, stumps, pads and cricket balls in time for its first game on Sunday.
Thunder has been supporting the Kent CC to develop and nurture the young cricketers of Sierra Leone for the past year and has also donated equipment to the Sierra Leone National Cricket Team.
“We are delighted that Sydney Thunder have considered to help us in Sierra Leone using the power of cricket to make a positive social change in our community as that has always been our mission as a club,” said Kent CC Founder and CEO Emmanuel Pessima.
The Kent CC, whose motto is “changing lives and building communities through cricket”, was established to give young people hope and focus in overcoming challenges they face in their home country as a result of war and conflict.
Support from the Thunder Nation has enabled Kent CC to further engage the youth of Sierra Leone in community-based activities and remove barriers to participation.
Thunder are proud to be able to support overseas communities and help continue to grow the game of cricket in emerging nations.
