Thunder beat Hurricanes in Mike Hussey Trophy

In their second game of the Mike Hussey Trophy Tournament tournament the Thunder Development XI beat a strong Hurricanes Academy side in Blacktown.

Thunder's side contained seven changes from their defeat to the Lahore Qalandars taht toko place the evening before.

Sydney Thunder captain Shane Watson came into the side alon with Ryan Hackeny, Daniel Solway, Brendan Smith, Greg Wests and Charlie Stobo.

Thunder made a bright start with Nathan McAndrew taking a wicket in his first over but the Hurricanes Academy which included James Faulkner built a steady innings.

Nathan McANdrew (1-32) and Josh Clarke (2-29) and Charlie Stobo took the wickets as Charlie Wakim top scored with 39. James Faulkner 28 and Simon Milenko10 finished unbeaten after the twenty overs.

Chasing 146 to win Shane Watson and Ryan Gibson opened the batting with Gibson fresh off a half century the day before. The duo started strongly with Watson hitting two sixes in two overs to take Thunder to thirty one without loss from the first three overs. The first wicket didnt fall until the sixth over when Ryan Gibson (7) was caught by Charlie Wakim from the bowling of Hamish Kingson.

Thunder were unable to add to their total before Watson fell for 52 with the score now at 2-65 and Josh Clarke and Ryan Hackney the two fresh batters. A mix up between the pair saw Hackney run out for 13.

Clarke (15) and Lenton (10) lost their wickets to slow the Thunder run chase down. That brought in Nathan McAndrew who was promoted up the order and made a well disciplined 21 from 20 that saw Thunder finish the winners.
