Sydney Thunder are delighted to announce that their partnership with NOVA Employment has been extended for a second season. The Thunder know how important it is that all children, regardless of whether they have a disability, have the chance to play sport.
“In conversation with representatives from Sydney Thunder I have been very impressed by their understanding of the importance of sport for all young people and their willingness to ensure that people with disability are given the chance not only to play sport but to do so in the company of household name players. I believe that both organisations see the importance of a truly inclusive society," said NOVA Employment Chief Executive Martin Wren.
“Obviously we want to see every person who has a disability get jobs and earn a wage and that said, participation in team sport is very valuable for a rounded out life – the flow on benefits of having other interests mean opportunities to make new friends, develop an understanding of the importance of being part of a team, improved fitness, skills. For NOVA Employment our partnership with Sydney Thunder makes sound business sense – two organisations that focus on ability.”
The partnership includes naming rights sponsorship of the NOVA Employment All Abilities T20 Cup. In return Sydney Thunder are a supporting partner of the Nepean ‘100 jobs in 100 days’ campaign across Sydney Thunder regions in Western Sydney.
"The NOVA Employment All Abilities T20 Cup is a program designed to engage cricketers with an intellectual disability using the vibrancy and energy of the Sydney Thunder brand," said Sydney Thunder General Manager Lee Germon.
"Cricket is Australia’s favourite sport and a sport for all Australians. Cricket NSW and Sydney Thunder are committed to enabling access to the game."
The NOVA Employment All Abilities Cup allows 25 cricketers take part in trials and practice matches in order to select a representative for the New South Wales ID Team who will represent the state at the National Championships. Players represent the Sydney Thunder and the Sydney Sixers. Currently 2 of the 3 trial games have been held with the Thunder team victorious.
