Sydney Thunder is auctioning limited-edition playing shirts to support OzHarvest and help raise valuable funds to provide meals to those in need across the Thunder Nation.
OzHarvest is Australia’s leading food rescue organisation, collecting quality excess food from commercial outlets and delivering it directly to more than 1,300 charities supporting people in need across the country.
OzHarvest delivers nourishing food to more than 1,500 charities across Australia, including over 200 agencies that support the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
This year more people than ever before have relied on food relief provided by OzHarvest due to the effects of the COVID-19 health pandemic. This has seen an increase in demand for the food OzHarvest provides.
Today our @WBBL skipper @RachaelHaynes and Thunder staff members volunteered at @OzHarvest, packing 320 hampers to be distributed across Sydney to those in need 💚— Sydney Thunder (@ThunderBBL) January 5, 2021

Each member of Thunder's BBL|10 squad and title-winning WBBL|06 squad has signed their Indigenous playing shirt to be auctioned. All money raised going directly to provide more meals to those in need across the Thunder Nation.
Designed by Rheanna Lotter, a Sydney-based Yuin woman, the playing shirt symbolises the connection, commitment and inclusivity of the Thunder Nation.
The large circle on the shirt represents the team and the smaller circles represent the supporters, staff, sponsors and wider community.
The large circle is connected to the smaller circles by unbreakable song lines. It is this strong connection between all parts of the Thunder Nation that enables the team to function and compete.
The Indigenous playing shirts were worn in Thunder’s fixtures against the Melbourne Stars (14 November) and the Perth Scorchers (15 November) during WBBL|06 and against the Perth Scorchers (9 January) and Sydney Sixers (13 January) during BBL|10.
Shirts start from $100 with every $1 raised helping to provide two meals.
“A huge thank you to Sydney Thunder for their continued support of OzHarvest. Together with their Thunder Nation community they are helping us to ‘Nourish Our Country’ and we love the way the whole team get involved and support the cause,” said Julia Gove, Fundraising Project Executive, OzHarvest.
“Every dollar raised from this partnership allows us to deliver two meals and supports our work stopping good food from going to waste and getting it to those who need it most.”
