Sydney Thunder batter Kurtis Patterson has scored an impressive century for the Cricket Australia XI on day one of their three-day tour match against Sri Lanka at Blundstone Arena in Tasmania.
Patterson made 157* from 212 deliveries, including 21 boundaries and one six, in a match-saving performance.
The CA XI were in trouble early after Sri Lanka claimed the early wickets of Joe Burns (4), Matt Renshaw (7) and Marnus Labuschagne (6) however Patterson held strong to lead his side to a total of 316 from 75 overs.
“I think challenge in those situations is to keep your game plan and for there were questions there to maybe sit in my box a little bit and be a bit hesitant but I think I made the right call to keep seeing the ball and hitting the ball and get the scoreboard moving,” said Patterson at the end of play yesterday.
Former Thunder wicketkeeper Jake Dooran was next best contributing 102* off 129 delivers, forming a strong 218 run partnership with Patterson.
Patterson's Thunder and Blues teammate Jason Sangha was dismissed for 3.
