Sydney Thunder defeated the Sydney Sixers by 46 runs on Friday night highlighted by the first BBL century to English opener Alex Hales in a record Big Bash total.
Player of the Match Hales made the second highest score by a Thunder player in BBL history behind Callum Ferguson’s 113, January 2019.
It was the seventh BBL hundred by a Thunder player.
He also went to the top of the BBL|10 run-scorers list with 462 runs from 12 matches.
The win reversed the result of the season's first Sydney Smash and put Thunder third on the BBL|10 table.
Some late hitting by Ben Cutting (33 from 14) added to valuable contributions by captain Callum Ferguson (42 off 23) and Sam Billings (33 off 21).
Defending a massive total, the Sixers made a fast start but some excellent fielding by Ferguson ran out Josh Philippe (20). Moises Henriques top-scored for the Sixers with 56 from 35 balls.
