Composure from captain Callum Ferguson has secured a seven-wicket win over the Perth Scorchers in Canberra on Tuesday night, but an unforgettable cameo from debutant Ollie Davies turned the match.
Chasing 153 to win, Ferguson made 61 not out from 53 balls and shared a 75-run partnership with 20-year-old Davies who smashed 36 from 22 balls including three sixes.
Thunder finished 3/156, with three balls to spare, in reply to 5/152. It was Thunder's second win of BBL|10 moving them to fourth on the ladder.
Ferguson passed 1,000 BBL runs for the Thunder during the match and allrounder Ben Cutting finished 29 not out from 16 balls. Earlier, he took his first wicket in lime green and finished with 1-16.
New Zealand pace ace Adam Milne was the other Thunder debutant conceding only 17 runs from his four overs.
Davies and Milne each took a catch. Daniel Sams took his 50th BBL wicket for the Thunder and joined Cutting, Nathan McAndrew and Tanveer Sangha with one wicket.
Alex Hales ran out fellow Englishman Joe Clarke for a duck.
