The Brisbane Heat defeated Thunder by seven wickets with five balls to spare in the Knockout Final at Manuka Oval in Canberra.
Heat made 3/162 in response to Thunder's 8/158. A 92-run partnership between Sam Heazlett (74 not out from 49) and Jimmy Pierson (43 not out off 24) winning the match for Brisbane.
Ben Cutting hit four sixes during his cameo of 34 not out from 18 balls - including one strike onto the roof of the main grandstand - taking Thunder past 150.
Sam Billings also made 34 from 24 balls, while Usman Khawaja (28) and captain Callum Ferguson (25) were the other two batsmen to pass 20.
Thunder made the perfect start with the ball taking 2-14 inside the first three overs and Brisbane was 3/70 after 12. But Heazlett and Pierson were just too good on the night.
Daniel Sams (1-32) and Brendan Doggett (1-34) were Thunder's wicket takers plus a run out to Chris Green to dismiss Australian player Marnus Labuschagne (32 off 30).
Englishman Alex Hales finished BBL|10 as Thunder's leading run-scorer and remains the BKT Golden Bat leader with 543 runs.
Leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha finished his debut season as the Thunder's leading wicket taker with 21 wickets and now looks forward to his first trip with an Australian squad on the T20 tour of New Zealand.
