Ollie Davies hit five straight sixes as Sydney Thunder set a new highest BBL score for the club in a huge win

Recent debutant Ollie Davies again produced some amazing hitting and Tanveer Sangha claimed four wickets in Thunder’s 129-run win over the Melbourne Renegades on Boxing Day at Manuka Oval, Canberra.

After an impressive debut on Tuesday, 20-year-old Davies smashed five straight sixes in his 48 from 23 balls in a record 8/209. Thunder passed 208 to set their highest BBL total.

The total was set up by 70 from the first six overs by Alex Hales (35 from 21) and Usman Khawaja (34 from 18).

Another BBL|10 debutant, 19-year-old leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha then starred with 4-14 from his 3.2 overs including Australia One-Day and T20 captain Aaron Finch (20). They were career best figures in his fourth match.

The Renegades were bowled out for 80 in 12.2 overs. The 129-run win was the second biggest winning margin in 10 years of the BBL.

Star England signing Sam Billings was a keen spectator for the big win.

Allrounder Nathan McAndrew (20 not out from 5) hit three sixes in the 20th over taking Thunder to a new high score.

Captain Callum Ferguson went to the top of the BBL|10 run-scorers list with 31 from 31 balls. Daniel Sams also smacked 22 from 12.

McAndrew (1-17) followed his effort with the bat with the wicket of Shaun Marsh (3) on his first ball.

New Zealand pace ace Adam Milne took his first wicket in lime green in his second match. He finished with 2-21 from his three overs.

Chris Green also took 2-7 and Sams added to this season's wicket tally with 1-21.
