Sydney Thunder complete a stunning comeback to book the final spot in the WBBL|06 Final at North Sydney Oval on Thursday night.
The Brisbane Heat seemed to be running away with the semi-final through Laura Kimmince (37 from 17) and needed 25 from 28 balls with six wickets in hand. They were bowled out for 131 in the 19th over with Thunder winning by 12 runs.
Two run outs started to swing the momentum. Then spinner Sam Bates (2-37) and Hannah Darlington (3-19) claimed three wickets in six balls to turn the match.
Sammy-Jo Johnson (2-14) claimed the final wicket to bowl out her former team. Thunder captain Rachael Haynes steering the Thunder to 6/143 with 48 not out from 44 balls.
Player of the Match, 18-year-old Darlington again showed her composure at the death and was on a hat-trick for the third time in WBBL|06.
Haynes hit 13 of the 15 from the final over of the Thunder innings. Tammy Beaumont got the Thunder off to a fast start with 27 from 20.
Bates claimed the wicket of the big-hitting Grace Harris (6) in her first over, hitting the stumps, and continuing her outstanding form.
The spinner has 17 wickets in 15 matches. Darlington has 18 with Johnson our leading wicket taker on 20 wickets, leading the way in the WBBL.
