Sydney Thunder's Harmanpreet Kaur will captain a side in an exhibition T20 game ahead of the first IPL Qualifier on 22 May in Mumbai. The two sides will feature several internationals from India, Australia, New Zealand and England.
The BCCI has confirmed that Kaur and Indian Vice-Captain Smriti Mandhana will be the two captains, with Australia's Ellyse Perry, Alysa Healy, Megan Schutt and Beth Mooney also confirmed.
"Even as IPL continues to roll like a well-oiled machine, over the last couple of weeks, efforts were made to put in place a similar structure for women cricketers," said IPL Chairman Rajeev Shukla.
"We were in talks with several Boards and I am pleased with the outcome.
"This special game will be played at Mumbai's iconic Wankhede Stadium and will be telecast live in India and across the world".
Australian players are currently on leave before they come together in Brisbane for a camp at the end of the month as they being preparations for the 2018-19 summer that will feature T20I and ODI series against New Zealand, an away tour against Pakistan in October and November's World T20 in the Caribbean.
