Chris Green took his first five wicket haul in professional cricket on Monday as he helped the NSW Blues pick up their second win of the season against Queensland.

The Thunder off-spinner joined the NSW Blues squad after captaining the Guyana Amazon Warriors to the final of the Caribbean Premier League and has now taken seven wickets in three games.

Green was one of four Thunder players in the side alongside Kurtis Patterson, Daniel Sams and the returning Pat Cummins.

Queensland set the Blues 297 to win, with Daniel Sams taking 3-50 while Cummins took a wicket in his first game back from injury. Thunder spinner Green’s five wickets included Charlie Hemphrey, Joe Burns, Jimmy Perison, Mark Steketee and Andrew Gode.

NSW Blues final game is against Victoria on Thursday at Drummoyne. They could include Thunder spinner Fawad Ahmed who was recently recalled to the state team over the weekend.

Sydney Thunder open their KFC Big Bash League campaign against the Melbourne Stars on 21 December before taking on the Sydney Sixers at Spotless Stadium on Christmas Eve. Tickets go on sale this Thursday, with Memberships already available here.
