Sydney Thunder wicket-keeper batsman Jay Lenton has signed a one year extension to his contract on the day that fixtures for BBL|08 have been announced.
Lenton played four games for Sydney Thunder last season scoring 41-runs in two innings, having played five games the season before.
The 27-year old had to wait for the departure of Jos Buttler to break into the team last season, but believes he could play as a specialist batter.
"It's part of T20 cricket that you have to go out there and nail more than one facet of your game," said Lenton.
"I'm looking at expanding the range of skills that I have. I always prepare the same way whether it is for a four day game or a T20 but the big crowds really get the adrenaline going."
Sydney Thunder’s BBL fixtures were released this morning, with the club opening their campaign against the Melbourne Stars on 21 December (venue TBC) before taking on the Sydney Sixers at Spotless Stadium on Christmas Eve.
"The Sydney Smash has become one of the biggest rivalries in T20 cricket," said Lenton.
"It's mate versus mate and you always want to get one over our mates. I've not played one at Spotless yet, I've played two at the SCG and it always feels like a home game."
