With England international Jos Buttler in the side, appearances have been hard to come by for Jay Lenton. However, with Jos now on international duty, Jay has his chance to take the gloves. It can be hard for players to stay focused when not playing but Jay said he's enjoyed the down time,
"It's been quite nice actually, I've had a bit of downtime over Christmas which was nice. The blues have been away on tours which I wasn't involved in so I've just chilled out, played a bit of Grade and am raring to go on Thursday."
Jay has approached his opportunity in form after scoring 64 for Manly Warringah in Sydney First Grade on Saturday, and he is hoping he can replicate that form for the Thunder.
"Not sure where I'll bat but I will do whatever I can on the night to help the team and hopefully score some runs".
Having an international keeper like Jos around can bring great experience to a squad and Jay says he was great to work alongside,
"Jos was such a good guy, not just for me personally but to have around the squad. He had some much time for everyone and was always happy to offer me tips & hints. He's a great watcher of the game so even just chatting to him was interesting."
Thunder take on the Scorchers on Thursday night at Spotless (TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE) and Jay knows they will have to be at their best, but are more than capable of beating them.
"It's T20 cricket so you never know what is going to happen but we just have to make sure we're well prepared. On paper we're as good as any side in this competition so we just have to try and put a performance together on Thursday night to get the win."
