Bankstown Oval hosted the Afghanistan community trials on Friday night, with 26 cricketers vying for a chance to participate in the upcoming HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup.
Hilal Tawakal is looking forward to representing his community for the second time, after helping Afghanistan win the HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup title in 2019/20.
“I feel so proud to be selected in HomeWorld Thunder Nation Cup to represent my team Afghanistan,” said Takawal.
“I have been selected previously and we won the final, bringing honour to our team.
“It brings joy and happiness to be involved with your country mates and enjoy the different cultures.
“I came to Australia in 2014… Throughout my time in Sydney, I’ve played for different cricket clubs and many community games which allowed me to make a lot of friends.
“Cricket is my passion.”
