Head to head:
Strikers six wins, Thunder three wins.
Strikers have won on the last four occasions.
Last time they met:
Strikers (4-175) beat Thunder (6-155) by 20 runs on New Year's Eve at Adelaide Oval.
The home side made a fast start, racing to 1-106 after 10 overs through Alex Carey (59) and Colin Ingram (75) however Thunder fought back to restrict the Strikers to just 3-62 off the final 10 overs thanks to disciplined bowling from Chris Green (0-18 from four overs including a maiden) and Daniel Sams (2-24 from four overs).
Chasing 176 to win, Jos Buttler (23) and Shane Watson (28) started well however after three overs the run rate started to slow and Buttler was eventually dismissed in the final over of the power play. South Australian Callum Ferguson (47) led the way with the bat with handy cameos from Joe Root (18) and Daniel Sams (15) but wasn't able to develop any solid partnerships and Thunder ultimately fell 20 runs short of the target.
The season so far:
Thunder made a great start to BBL|08, winning the first two games before falling to the Hobart Hurricanes and the Strikers away from home. They bounced back to claim a thrilling one run victory at Spotless Stadium over the Perth Scorchers but have dropped the last two games. Thunder will be hoping to secure a win at home to keep finals within reach.
After a convincing five wicket win over the Brisbane Heat to open the season, the reigning champions slumped to consecutive losses against the Melbourne Renegades and Perth Scorchers however rediscovered their winning form and currently sit second on the ladder.
