Sydney Thunder paceman Liam Hatcher has starred with the ball for NSW Metro in a thrilling 10-run win against Victoria in the Toyota Futures League.
The 22-year-old claimed 7-43 from 14.2 overs in a match-winning performance in Melbourne on Thursday.
Hatcher’s seven wickets are his best figures in the Futures League and his first five-wicket haul.
Ryan Gibson and Daniel Sams also put together strong performances for Metro.
Gibson scored 63 from 115 in the first innings before allrounder Sams hit 67 from 91 and claimed 2-33 in the second.
At Philip Oval in Canberra, ACT/NSW Country tied with Tasmania after wicket keeper Matthew Gilkes effected a run out to dismiss Tasmania’s No. 11 for a duck.
Thunder seamer Sam Rainbird top-scored for Tasmania in the first innings. The No. 10 scored 63 from 77, following figures of 2-97 with the ball.
Paceman Nathan McAndrew returned best figures for ACT/NSW Country. He claimed 2-64 from 18 overs in the first innings and 3-61 from 21.4 in the second.
19-year-olds Gilkes (51) and Jason Sangha (46*) impressed with the bat for ACT/NSW Country.
Gilkes has now scored the fourth most runs in the tournament, with 418 in nine innings at 46.44.
Toyota Futures League Round 11 will commence on Monday 25 February with NSW Metro set to face ACT/NSW Country on Monday 11 March at Blacktown International Sportspark.
JLT Sheffield Shield resumes on Saturday 23 February with the NSW Blues taking on the Western Warriors at Bankstown Oval.
