Sydney Thunder captain Callum Ferguson notched a brilliant century for South Australia in the Marsh One-Day Cup in a busy week for Thunder players ahead of the ninth KFC Big Bash League season.
Ferguson’s 127 came off just 125 balls and featured 9 fours and four 6’s with the Redbacks eventually losing by six runs to Western Australia.
In Melbourne, Jason Sangha made his List A debut for NSW in its narrow loss to Victoria at the MCG.
Daniel Sams stole the show for the Blues taking 5-46 from ten overs including the wickets of three of the top four Victorian batters, in a match which also featured Thunder wicketkeeper batter Matt Gilkes and spinner Arjun Nair.
South African recruit Chris Morris has also continued his good form in the Mzansi Super League for the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants, taking 1-14 from three overs against the Jozi Stars and 2-8 from two overs in a rain abandoned match against the Tshwane Spartans.
Sydney Thunder is set to open its ninth KFC Big Bash League campaign against the Brisbane Heat at the Gabba on 17 December, before playing its first game in Sydney on 2 January.
