Sydney Thunder are set to give debuts to two new overseas players on Sunday afternoon when they take on the Adelaide Strikers at Spotless Stadium (2:45pm start).
England international Chris Jordan and New Zealand batter Anton Devcich have joined the club for the second half of the season replacing England’s Joe Root and Jos Buttler.
“Being a Kiwi and getting the opportunity to come over and play in the Big Bash is something not too many boys get to do,” said Devcich.
“I’ve watched the Big Bash with keen interest for some time now and to get the opportunity to come over and play is great. I can’t wait to get stuck in.
“I haven’t played a lot in Australia, I’ve played most places around the world especially in the sub-continent. I’m looking forward to playing over here, hopefully the tracks and conditions suit my style.
“Back in New Zealand we play in quite boutique grounds, lots of grass and embankments but to come here to Spotless it looks amazing. The facilities here look fantastic and I’m sure it’ll be a good track and hopefully we can get a few wins.
“I’ve played with a few Aussies in my last few tournaments and they’ll know me pretty well but hopefully I’ve added a few new tricks to my repertoire.”
Jay Lenton is also set to make his first appearance of the season, being the only wicket-keeper named in the 13-player squad.
