Thunder Nation stars involved in historic tour

Several members of the Thunder Nation took part in the first match of the Aboriginal Tour of the UK to commemorate the historic 1868 Pioneers tour.

Two games were played against the MCC at Arundel with Brendan Smith, Ben Patterson, Brock Larance and Tyran Liddiard all featuring alongside Jonte Pattison who was Thunder’s BBL|04 Development Rookie.

Brendan Smith, who captained the Thunder Indigenous side in 2016 made 34 from 23 ball while Ben Patterson scored 49 which included four furs and three sixes.

Jonte Patterson took two wickets for 18, while Scottish international Dylan Budge made 52.

In the second game Dan Christian, a recent recruit for the Melbourne Renegades made an unbeaten 78 while Ben Patterson finished 8 without loss to help the Aboriginal XI over the line in a six wicket win.

With the ball Brock Larance took 1 for 18, Ben Patterson 1 for 21 and Jonte Pattison 1 for 27.

Their next fixture is against Surrey at the Oval on Thursday in a double head with a corresponding women’s fixture which will include Thunder’s Hannah Darlington.
