Intro
Keen came up through the ranks playing for NSW Under 17”s and ,Under 19’s before going on to play his only T20 top level match for the Blues against Victoria in 2009.
After playing recently in Victoria he has returned to NSW playing grade with his new Thunder team mates Scott and Adam Coyte at Campbelltown.
Born in Penrith, Keen now becomes the seventh “local “from the Western Suburbs to join the Thunder squad. Captain Michael Clarke, Scott and Adam Coyte, Luke Doran, Sean Abbott and Gurinder Sandhu were all born and bred in the west.
"Simon has been a promising player for some time. He has progressed well and has taken his game to another level. He is now ready for the big stage." - Shane Duff
Keen is excited to be joining the Western Sydney connection.
“ It is a great feeling coming in to the squad with so many players I know so well who like me grew up in Sydney’s west . I have to work hard now to try and get an opportunity to force my way in to the team.”
'Keeno' has a few favourite cricketing moments over the years, too many to pick just one, but he can tell us that his favourite player is Michael Bevan. As a fellow left hander, Simon says he really liked the way Bevan batted and that he was really positive at the crease.
Simon loves the beach and surfing and gets to do a little bit now and then but because of cricket doesn't have much spare time for it even though he loves it. He's always wanted to sky dive and is sure one day he will, he's just waiting for someone to push him to do it!
Thunderstruck is definitely on Simon's iPod - he's grown up with his Dad playing the CD over and over - it was one of his favourite songs. Big welcome to Simon!
