    Intro

Sydney Thunder Coach, Shane Duff is pleased to have Rhett on board for season two of the BBL. “It is tremendous to have another Western Sydney Junior playing at Sydney Thunder. He is an experienced player at this level that provides us with brilliant fielding and flexibility with both bat and ball."

The T20 form of the game suits Rhett and the right handed batsmen will add strength to the Thunder top and middle order batting. This all-rounder debuted in First Grade cricket in 2004 and has played almost 30 T20 games including for the Hurricanes during BBL|01. Rhett’s looking forward to playing with Thunder, he sees it as a good opportunity to come and play where he grew up.

“Lockdog” started playing cricket in the school yard with his mates and grew up a big fan of Australian cricketer Mark Waugh. He’s pretty laid back on game day with no particular pre-game ritual - he just turns up and plays his best.

Rhett’s proudest cricketing moment was winning the Ford Ranger Cup with his State team, Tasmania but having grown up in Mudgee, NSW, Rhett will be returning ‘home’ for BBL|02 leaving Tassie, his home for the last 9 years, behind for the summer.

AFL is Rhett’s other favourite sport and it’s the Gold Coast SUNS who get his support. He’s also recently got married and had a brilliant honeymoon in Croatia.

"I’m keen to get out on the field, play in front of the crowd at ANZ Stadium and participate in exciting T20." Rhett Lockyear
