Cummins and Morgan Picked Up In IPL Auction

Tournament set to start in Arpil

Sydney Thunder duo Eoin Morgan and Pat Cummins were both snapped up in this week’s IPL Auction.

Eoin Morgan, who has previously played for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the lucrative Indian tournament was snapped up by Kings XI Punjab for roughly $389,045.

The England ODI and T20 captain, produced one of the moments of the season for Sydney Thunder, hitting a six off the last ball to ensure victory against the Melbourne Stars at Spotless Stadium.

Batting alongside him during that innings was Thunder quick Pat Cummins who joined Thunder Head Coach Paddy Upton at the Delhi Daredevils.

The Penrith native moved for $875,000 to join Zaheer Khan, JP Duminy, Sam Billings and fellow Thunder teammate Carlos Brathwaite.

The two biggest moves of the day were that of Ben Stokes to Rising Pune Supergiants for $2.8m where he will play alongside Usman Khawaja and fellow England quick Tymal Mills for $2.3m to join Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The IPL will commence on Thursday 6 November.
